Turkish night, which is one of the most important activities of Cappadocia, is the most entertaining way for our guests to see the local dance and dance clothes of the Turkish people closely. It is one of the richest rock-carved places you can see in Cappadocia. When you enter inside, the texture of the place resembles an underground city. In the Turkish night show, 7 different dance shows will be performed by our dance team, who has received folkloric dance training and will present Turkish folk dances to you professionally.
Caucasian Dance
Man's arm movements in dances resemble the flight of an eagle. He follows her from behind on her left side; never makes contact. His right hand is open to the sky, and his left hand to protect the woman. In the dances, the man's watching the woman as if flying a little behind is interpreted as "the eagle chasing the pheasant in the sky". In men, the feet make hard and sudden turns; it represents war and strife. The interesting thing is: Men do not turn their backs on women, even during war. Another meaning of this is the proof and self-confidence that he will protect his woman. Women, on the other hand, glide as if they are sliding on a slippery ground and take mini steps. Women's applause is as delicate as they are. It is enough to lightly tap the palms with the fingertips.
Halay
It is a type of dance that is usually performed at weddings in Turkish culture. This type of dance, which is performed with at least 3 people, can reach up to 100 people in large weddings. It is usually played in a half or full circle. The person at the top of the line first moves slowly, then accelerates, and as he/she accelerates, the other people must be fast as well. The person at the head of the line, waving a silk handkerchief, accompanies the music with rhythm. The most defining feature of halay dance is the back and forth foot movements. The collective dance called halay is performed according to the rhythms kept in the accompaniment of drum and zurna instruments.
Silifke
Silifke dance type is usually performed with spoons. In the Silifke dance performed in the parts of Anatolia opening to the Mediterranean, the daily life of the Anatolian people is described in various stages. Dances are lively and cheerful. Most of the games are accompanied by Drums and Clarinet. It is usually played as a mix (men and women).
Zeybek
It is played by one person or by arranging several players in a circle. Zeybek represents a brave man who protects the people. The dancer playing Zeybek spreads her arms at shoulder level, with her hands in line with her head, and bends her arms slightly at the elbows in some dances. He moves slowly, taking big steps. One of the distinctive movements of this dance is to bend down and touch one knee to the ground from time to time.
Bride and Groom Dance
It is a type of play specific to weddings in Anatolia. It is played only by the bride and groom. First of all, the bride seduces the groom with her beauty. Then the groom starts to dance around the bride. However, the bride behaves a little coyly and dances away from the groom for a while. The groom can't stand the bride's indifference and kneels in front of the bride, kisses her hand, and the bride does not coo anymore and they start dancing with the groom.
Belly Dancer
This type of dance, which includes the oldest known dance figures, is known to be a symbol of fertility and abundance in ancient times. It is usually made in bulk on holidays and New Year's Eve.
