This place, which draws attention with its natural beauty in the town of Uçhisar, located in rocky Cappadocia, is also home to hundreds of pigeons. Pigeon Valley, whose name comes from the pigeons it contains, has naturally acquired a nest by birds. In the early centuries of Cappadocia, pigeons carried messages between the two regions and successfully carried out their mission as homing pigeons for a long time. As people found alternative ways of communication, the need for pigeons and similar birds decreased and they began to live in one place collectively.
Derinkuyu Underground City
In 1963, a person living in the Derinkuyu district of the Cappadocia region demolished some walls to renovate his home and later discovered a tunnel door in his home. Although the exact date has not been determined, it is known that it was used in the Protohitite, Hittite, Roman and Byzantine periods. Today, only 8 floors of this underground city are open to visitors, but if excavations are carried out, the parts that were used in the past and later filled can be opened to visitors.

NUMEROUS CHURCHES IN IHLARA CANYON Considered among the largest canyons in the world, Ihlara Valley has been an important religious center since the founding years of Christianity. There are countless churches and historical living areas in the 14-kilometer valley.
THE PEOPLE OF THE TURNING WATER The volcanic layer formed by the eruption of Hasan Mountain centuries ago formed the Ihlara Valley with the natural events and erosion of the Melendiz Stream. This fascinating canyon, whose height can reach 120 meters, starts in Ihlara Town and extends to Selime over Belisırma and Yaprakhisar. Because of the Melendiz flowing through the canyon, the ancient inhabitants of the region were called "the people of the swirling water", that is, the "Peristremma".
From the 4th century onwards, pioneer Christian clergy grew up in the region. The first ones that come to mind are Basilius of Kayseri, who set different monastic rules than in Egypt and Syria, and the saint Gregorius of Nazianzos, who founded a sect by bringing a new explanation to the trinity of father-son-holy spirit (trinity).
Belisırma Village
At the end of canyon walk, we will eat at restaurant, where the Melendiz river also passes. In line with your request, you can also have your meal on the floor tables on the river. We also have options for our vegetarian guests in our restaurant.
